Game design students from ICAT Hyderabad win People’s choice award in one of the biggest game events of the year in India. Reliance Game Hack 2015 took place in Hyderabad on 7 January. Game hack 2015 was featuring various events including a pitch of over 26 different games, a judges panel discussion regarding the scene of Independent Developers and the possible paths they can follow to take their games to the next level, and also a seminar on the next generation Real Sense technology by Intel and how Intel's new features help improve Unity Game Development.
Out of 34 competitors four games were nominated for people’s choice award in which two games were designed by ICAT Hyderabad game design students. ICAT students had to compete with Indie developers to win this award and surprisingly people elected “Wrecoons” for its simplicity, fun and engaging multiplayer game play. Public's Choice Award worth a cash prize of 5,000 INR was awarded to its developers Cyrus Taraporwala and Ajay Swami from PG game design ICAT Hyderabad. Along with Wrecoons one more game called Raphael Loviee which is designed by P.R.V Bharath from UG game design was also selected to be displayed in the Pocket gamers’ connect, Bangalore.
