As an initiative to embolden the budding coding minds through robust coding competition, a 48-hour game jam was organized by the Interactive Media Department at ICAT Bangalore, beginning 27 October, 2017, at IST 4.00 pm.
The ICAT Game Jam allowed students to push the boundaries of creativity, innovation, reality, and technology to build amazing games. As intended, it created an intriguing ambience where coding and designing were more of a mind sport and after which the smart programming skills of the participants got better and wittier.
ICAT Game Jam provided the participants with the themes: 'Rage', 'Melancholy' and 'Light' that provided a unique opportunity to apply out-of-box thinking to create interesting gameplay by using emerging technologies and also made the Game Jam much more challenging.
There were 15 teams who participated enthusiastically with a competitive spirit and zeal up in the air. They all used the contest as a great opportunity to hone their game designing and developing skills, and the leadership qualities.
The judging panel includes Mr. Saswath Mishra, a Serial Game Jammer, Mr. Om Prakash Mehra, a talented Game Designer, and Mr. Rahul Raman, an Indie Game Developer. The panel had a tough time assessing the competitors. Engrossing gameplay, impressive design and awe-inspiring concept were the judging criteria.
The team, 'Marana Mass' emerged as Winners (1st prize) while the team 'YOUnique Games' settled as the Runners (2nd prize), after giving tough competition.
